Thyme & Honey at Detroit Abloom - Detroit, MI
This night will always live in my mind as one of the most magical evenings I’ve had in Michigan.
It was an event for Temple Israel called Do Good Date Night, where they go do a service project somewhere in the community and then have dinner together.
This time it was at Detroit Abloom, an urban garden in Detroit, and my dear friend Chef Cat cooked for them.
Cat served what seemed like a hundred courses, all prepared outdoors and cooked over an open fire.
No electricity, no lights, this was primitive fine dining at it’s best.
She’s freakin magic y’all.
Detroit Abloom is this incredible hidden gem.
I’ve never seen so many Monarch butterflies outside of the Monarch gardens in Pismo Beach, CA.
Moving to Michigan hasn’t been the easiest transition for me, but I felt like this was the night I really started to fall in love with Detroit,
which has changed my experience of living here completely.
If I focus really really hard I can still taste this fresh, fire-grilled naan and MAN ALIVE it was so good.
I love getting to photograph Cat’s cooking events because she always gives me a little bit of what she’s serving.
Putting this blog post together is making me so hungry, I wish I had some right meow.
